Common Lands: responding to Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s restoration of Bartonsham Meadows

20th April 2025

As part of the Common Lands programme, A&H has continued to collaborate with Rebecca Beinart in partnership with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and local communities to develop artwork for Hereford’s Bartonsham Meadows.

At the end of March, Rebecca was in Hereford for an intensive and wonderful series of workshops with different community groups, students and young people, and has composed a lovely series of stories all about the experience.

From nettle cake bake offs, screen and block printing workshops with plant-based pigments, to sessions working with biomaterials, this wonderful series of updates gives a real insight into the joys of collaborative practice and experimentation.

You can read all these stories on our instagram feed and please save the date for a gathering on the Meadows on June 21st, 2025!

The Common Lands commission is an A&H partnership with Herefordshire Wildlife Trust (HWT) responding to HWT’s restoration of Bartonsham Meadows to healthy, wildlife-rich floodplain meadows. The project is being kindly supported by Hereford College of Arts and funded through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Elmley Foundation and Hereford City Council. HWT’s restoration of Bartonsham Meadows is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
