Call out for Artist Films

1st October 2024

Having recently revisited several of our past projects in our online Screening Room, Arts&Heritage are putting out an Open Call for artists to submit existing film works to be shown on the Screening Room, as part of our Common Lands project.

We want to share existing digital works of no more than 10 minutes, to be shown over an agreed period of weeks in November, December and January, that fits within our current thematic strand of work: Common Lands. We are looking for stories of people, place and collective action, inspired by histories of access to land, ownership and duty of care for nature. You can find out more about Common Lands, including our recommended reading list, here. You can also see the kinds of projects we have featured in the past in our Screening Room Archive.

Please note that we do not want new works, or works created specifically for our Screening Room – our intention is to showcase artists’ already existing films, which fall under the Common Lands theme.

To propose your film artwork, please send us an email which includes:
– a link to your film, preferably on YouTube or Vimeo.
– a very brief (no more than 100 words) explanation of how your work relates to the theme of Common Lands.
– your name, contact information, and a brief summary of where this particular work has already been featured (if applicable).

Please send the above to info@artsandheritage.org.uk.
Deadline: 5pm, Monday 28 October

If selected by our panel, we will ask you to send us an image of the work that we can use for promotion, an artist’s bio and a brief description of your film work, to include on the Screening Room page. Featured artists will receive a fee of £50 per selected film.
