The Auckland Project (TAP), Bishop Auckland, is delighted to announce an exciting new open call opportunity for UK illustrators and artists. UK creatives are invited to apply to produce eye-catching illustrations for the nine large-scale shutter panels which adorn Auckland Tower and Visitor Centre, a recent addition to the TAP’s historic site designed by Níall McLaughlin Architects.
The chosen artist will be awarded a fee of £25,000 to create nine illustrations on the external shutter panels that speak to the rich history of Bishop Auckland and its vibrant future. The selectors include key members of the The Auckland Project team including along with guest external judge Ted Carden, Assistant Professor, Northumbria School of Design, Northumbria University.
The call out is being arranged by Arts&Heritage and the Application Pack (see link below) contains a Brief, Application Form, and Appendix: Background Information. Illustrators and Artists will be invited to share their existing portfolio of work and initial responses (250 words), with shortlisted artists invited to a paid interview.
The Auckland Project looks forward to receiving applications and moving one step closer to the public installation of illustrations on this groundbreaking building.
This application is now closed and the selection will be announced soon.
