Arts&Heritage are working with Ambassador Theatre group to commission artists to create work in their theatre’s front of house spaces.
This commission is an opportunity for an artist to delve into the story of the building from when it was built – as a cinematic variety beacon in the roaring 20’s with a Wurlitzer and beautiful architecture right through to the present day. The commission presents an expanded opportunity for an artist to explore the heritage of the potteries and their associated making processes, ideas and inspiration; the work, inspiration and imagery of Clarice Cliffe, the long history of dance and music and theatre performance within its walls and the many communities that have lived and worked in the vicinity of the building. The building is the one constant throughout time, its ever changing spaces inspiring joy and a sense of community across the decades.
The project budget is £5,000, with a deadline for a short expression of interest in a couple of weeks time (apologies for the quick turnaround). We are looking for an artist to create the work onsite in January/ February 2022.
Full details are below – please have a look yourself and/or share with your artist networks.
Closing date for expressions of interest: 9th December 2021.
