Call out for artists for a new project at Princess Theatre, Torquay

Arts&Heritage are working with Ambassador Theatre group to commission artists to create work in their theatre’s front of house spaces.

This commission is an opportunity for an artist to delve into the theatre’s history, engage with its communities and staff and extract the stories contained within its walls. It also presents an expanded opportunity for an artist to explore Torquay’s heritage. From its coastal history, including possible themes of the bay’s shift from fishing to fashionable seaside resort, to Torquay’s unique natural environment and climate, or the history of Princess Theatre and its unique views; from Bay to Stage. The venue wants to be as open as possible about the themes and imagery an artist would like to explore.

The project budget is £5,000, with a deadline for a short expression of interest in a couple of weeks time  (apologies for the quick  turnaround). We are looking for an artist to create the work onsite in January/ February 2022.

Full details are below – please have a look yourself and/or share with your artist networks.

Closing date for expressions of interest: 9th December 2021.
